getting organized

One of the biggest challenges we've faced in our marriage is getting organized.  Keeping the day to day business of our little family running has been hard.  Disorganization and therefore a lack of communication can lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety.  When you add in disorganized finances it just gets ten times worse.

Two new tools have helped reduce stress and anxiety and keep BE connected and communicating about the day to day, and I love them so much I want to share them!

Mint is a web based financial management tool.  You can connect everything and anything to it, and track all of your various financial comings and going in one place.  This has been a huge blessing for us since money is very tight, and we needed the help.  With a couple clicks it automatically makes pretty charts and graphs for you, helps you set up savings goals, tells you how to save money on insurance or credit- basically it's awesome!  It is my new best friend.

2. THINGS

Things is task management software.  It is basically a "To Do List" on steroids.  It is super easy to use, and set up.  It let's you filter your list, so it is easier to manage and focus on a few things at once.  You can set up repeating to do items, save a project for another day, view your lists by category or due date- I LOVE IT.   I have also found it a great way to track ideas I have for future projects.  If I come up with an idea for a project I can add it here to my "Someday" Section.  I can add notes to it, attach files or links for reference, and remember what inspired the idea.  It is AWESOME.

The best part of both of these tools- They have iphone apps!  I can update them and stay connected on the go!  Major props are of course due to the iphone, and mobile me for keeping BE synced and connected at home and on the run.

As much as I love everything old fashioned, and using pretty notepads, and planners; I just find technology easier!  I don't need to carry a bulky planner everywhere.  I just slip my phone in my pocket and I am set!

When B and I get together we don't have to spend hours coordinating our calendars and planning.  He adds or changes something throughout his day and it automatically syncs with the other computers and my phone so I can stay in the loop.  This way when we get to spend time together we just spend time together!

Are there any other great organizing tools you've found?  Am I missing out on something I should have?

Until Then.

I love you.
