be christmas

We fly to the east coast today to be with our families on Christmas, so yesterday we had "Christmas Morning."  "Christmas morning" is a tradition I lifted from some of my good friends, who started it while in college.  The jist is that you pretend it's Christmas, hence the "Christmas Morning" in quotes.  My friends started this with their roommates in college as a fun way to celebrate Christmas togther before all going home for winter break.  When BE was married we stole the tradition for ourselves.  I get super into it.  I usually wake up like a little kid, screaming "SANTA CAME!  SANTA CAME!  IT'S CHRISTMAS!"

This way we have begun to start our own Christmas traditions, and get to experience Christmas together in our own home.  We love Christmas with our families, but there is just something special about having Christmas on your own terms, in your own home, and with you own tree.  I think it's important for us to start our own family traditions, and experience our family in that way.  We usually celebrate "Christmas Morning" just before traveling for Christmas- although one year we were so busy leading up to traveling that we did it when we got back!

This year things were a little rushed leading up to the weekend, and some of our holiday plans had to be canceled due to the CRAPPY WEATHER (no ice skating in this rain), but we still enjoyed a great time.  We made and feasted on TWO delicious dinner.  We made cookies for "Santa" and us!  We watched holiday films, and danced and sang along to Christmas music!  Per tradition we exchanged Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve, and wore them to bed.

We're excited to fly home to MD later this afternoon.  I'm doing a couple photo shoots while on the east coast, but otherwise it is going to be non stop fun catching up with all those we haven't seen for a while.

Until Then.

I love you.
