officially christmas

I am so excited it is December.  I had a very satisfying Thanksgiving break, and am now ready to dive into Christmas.  First Step: THE CHRISTMAS CARD!

This year I am going to get our card through SHUTTERFLY.  I've been using shutterfly.com for about three or four years now.  It is my favorite among the photo organization/ printing/ book making websites.  I've used them to get cards, and photo books in the past.  It's easy to use, and the quality is great!  I used them to make our wedding album.  It was easy, fun, and we love the end result!

B's Mother has used them for her holiday cards the past two years, and you know shutterfly is easy to use if she can do it because she is not the MOST computer savvy person (no offense- she is greatly improving in recent years).  My sister makes small pocket size books, and calendars as gifts for the grandparents every year, and they are a big hit!  I wish she gave me one (hint, hint).

Here are some of my favorite designs for this year, you can see these and more HERE and HERE.

I love the look of black and white images on Holiday cards.  Black and White is just more timeless, and classic.  Also, it allows the colors of the card to pop against the photography.  I like the cards with a more simple design- where the typography is the design, or a simple graphic element is used.  What do you think?  Which ones do you like?

I tried out some pictures of BE from recent months, but none of them seemed to work super well.  Here is the best possibility:

I like it, but I do not love it.  I don't think the picture works perfectly- I would  prefer to use a closer up portrait.  The problems I am having are:

ONE: There are not that many pictures of us TOGETHER.  We do a lot of pictures of friends, or of one another separately, but not many together- MUST REMEDY THIS IN FUTURE.

TWO: We do not have many pictures of us smiling and laughing- which would work with the mood of the card.  We do smile and laugh but somehow it has not been captured in a photo recently.

I think once we get the tree, and decorations up later this week we'll have a mini photo shoot and remedy this problem.  Now that I know which card designs I like I can plan the photo to match.

I'll share the end result closer to the holiday.

Until then.

I love you.
