backyard at night

We spend a lot of time in our backyard.

Getting to BBQ year round is pretty awesome, and B is getting REALLY good at BBQ since Momma K got him a BBQ cookbook for Christmas.

He's become quite a BBQ Maestro.

I love those quick portraits I snapped of B.  I just loved the shadows and texture on the wall.  Also- photo geek alert...ISO 6400!!!

And yes...Our backyard is a little bare, and I'm brainstorming how to cozy it up now that it is getting REALLY warm and lovely outside.  I don't have a lot of money to spare on this project.  I'm thinking- flowers, and plants, something else to add color and/or comfort.  Think inexpensive, and DIY. Also, I'm not much of a green thumb, but I'd like to learn.

Any Ideas for me?  I need the help!

Until Then.

I love you.

  1. Love the pictures. Ben looks great in the glow! As for flowers, you could start with border plants, hosta which is great and also lantana which has yellow blossoms. You should have great weather for flowering plants, poppies, mums, and a very hardy plant, vinca, which comes in several colors. Jack said to tell you these may not grow well in CA but I would think so. Impatiens are really nice plants which multiply. Love you!

  3. I like when things are planted in wierd containers. You coudl even go to a junkyard and find some funky thing like an old chair or a trunk or barrell...somethign adn then add to it. A fun planter and some cute but inexpensive chairs (even look at CVS or Rite aid) would be fun! Also for like $20 at Target you could get a fun tablecloth and some backyard dishes adn you would be good to go! also white lights are awesome....
